Fire officials said two adults were removed from a home in the area of the 1000-block of 32nd Avenue and transported to Loyola Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Those who live in the area are trying to make sense of what unfolded. Neighbors who did not want to go on camera said they heard multiple gun shots at around 1:30 a.m.
Police have released limited information on their investigation.
For several hours officers could be seen canvassing the area. Investigators placed yellow tape around a home on the corner of the street.
The Bellwood Police Department and the West Suburban Major Crimes Task Force are investigating.
One neighbor who was too distraught to speak said she is close to the family, adding that one of the victims is a woman in her 20s that lives at the home.
