2 drivers seriously injured in wrong-way crash on I-294 in South Holland: Illinois State Police

SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill. (WLS) -- Two drivers were seriously injured in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 294 in the south suburbs early Friday morning, Illinois State Police said.

ISP said troopers responded to a crash on southbound I-294 near Halsted Street in South Holland just before 3 a.m.



A Hyundai Tuscan struck a Ford Bronco head-on, and both drivers were taken to local hospitals with serious injuries, ISP said. Chopper 7 was over the scene.

The left three lanes were temporarily closed for an investigation, with traffic getting by in the right lane. All lanes reopened just after 7:15 a.m.



ISP did not immediately provide further information about the crash
