7 injured, 2 critically, in Bridgeview crash involving UPS truck: spokesperson

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (WLS) -- Seven people were injured, two critically, in a crash early Wednesday morning in south suburban Bridgeview, a spokesperson for the village said.

Police and fire crews responded to 71st Street and Harlem Avenue just after 4 a.m. for a crash involving a tractor trailer and a work van.



The van had rolled over and several people were trapped inside, the spokesperson said.

The seven wounded people included the truck driver.

The intersection was closed after the crash.



It's not immediately clear what led up to the crash.

Chopper 7 was over the scene, and the truck involved was from UPS.

UPS said in a statement, "Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this incident. We are cooperating with local law enforcement as they investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident. Because this is an active investigation, we refer additional questions to local authorities."
