The FTC alleged that Amazon:
- Obtained consumers' billing information before clearly and conspicuously disclosing material terms for Amazon Prime.
- Failed to obtain consumers' express informed consent for Amazon Prime.
- Failed to provide simple mechanisms for consumers to cancel Amazon Prime.
Eligible customers could receive a refund of up to $51.
To qualify for the claims process, you generally must have been a U.S. Amazon Prime customer who, between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025, either enrolled through one of the enrollment processes challenged by the FTC or tried to cancel through Amazon's online cancellation process but were unable to do so.
If you believe you may qualify, visit the official settlement website for eligibility information and instructions on how to file a claim.
The deadline to submit a claim is July 27, 2026.
The FTC warns consumers to be cautious of scams. You should never have to pay a fee to receive a settlement payment, and the FTC will not ask you to send money to get your refund.
