Traffic was stopped near North Caldwell Avenue and North Lehigh Avenue after Amtrak Train 338 clipped the bumper of a car around 4:12 p.m. in the Edgebrook neighborhood, Chicago fire officials said.
No one was hurt in the crash, authorities said.
Metra trains were stopped both directions while an investigation took place. Trains began to move again, but extensive delays were expected.
An Amtrak spokesperson said the train involved in the minor crash has continued its route to Chicago after a delay of over an hour.
