This standoff lasted about six hours Thursday, but police said everyone was okay and it did not appear anyone was hurt in the incident.
Charges are now filed against Alex Pacino, who surrendered hours after the situation began, Arlington Heights police said in an update Friday.
At about 7:33 a.m. two homeowners called 911 to ask for help after an armed suspect broke into the home in the 800-block of North Chestnut Avenue, police said.
Police got them out of the house safely.
Family members helped to negotiate with the suspect, officials said.
Pacino is charged with Home Invasion and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.
The suspect is due in court Saturday.
No further information was available.
