Aurora police investigate shooting near senior living community, say there's no threat to public

AURORA, Ill. (WLS) -- Aurora police are investigating a shooting near a senior living community.

Police said they were investigating in the 2000-block of West Downer Place.



Chopper 7 was over the scene about 11:30 a.m.

There was a large police presence, crime scene tape and evidence markers near a sign for the Assissi Homes of Downer Place.

Police were seen in a parking lot. A car was also on the scene with its back windshield shattered.



Aurora police said the shooting was an isolated incident involving people who knew each other, and there is no known threat to the public.

The public was asked to avoid the area. The scene was cleared after noon.

Police did not immediately provide any additional information on the shooting.
