Bellwood police officer charged, accused of sharing information with suspect, prosecutors say

BELLWOOD, Ill. (WLS) -- A west suburban police officer has been charged with official misconduct, the Cook County State's Attorney's Office announced Saturday.

Prosecutors say Bellwood Police Officer Michael Davis shared confidential law enforcement information with an acquaintance who is a suspect in an attempted traffic stop.



The incident ended with shots fired at an officer's vehicle, officials said.

Davis has served with the Bellwood Police Department sinceJanuary 2025. He was arrested Friday.

The officer appeared in court Saturday and was released from custody pending his trial.



Davis is scheduled to appear in court again July 21.
