Friends of Big Bear Valley shared a video from the live nest cam that shows two bald eagles on the nest.
FOBBV says Shadow's last visit to the nest was on July 23, but on Thursday he returned with another eagle.
The organization says Shadow's new friend is tagged "KD1," but they have not confirmed if it's a female or male. However, FOBBV added that in "comparing size against Shadow, KD1 is larger. Female eagles are 25-33% larger than males."
KD1 hatched in March 2022 in Southern California, making it 4 1/2 years old, according to the organization.
"KD1 first visited the nest on 8/10, just hours after it was announced Jackie had passed and has stopped by a couple of times since then," FOBBV said on their Facebook page.
Both eagles spend several minutes together before flying off the nest.
Jackie died on Monday after a serious illness.
