"There's a lot of anxiety, a lot of uneasiness, a lot of fear going on right now," Executive Director Courtney Sanders said.
Military families across Illinois are anxiously awaiting to hear from their loved ones as the U.S. continues to carry out attacks in Iran.
Sanders is experiencing the uncertainty herself, with one child already deployed overseas and another awaiting possible deployment.
"It's common for family members to go dark, and we don't hear from them for sometimes weeks or months at a time. And you just have to really rely on their faith and know they're out there doing what they're supposed to be doing. And frankly they're protecting every single one of us," Sanders said.
Sanders is using her time to help other families, offering resources.

That involves group events and day-to-day mental guidance or immediate assistance for spouses who have a loved one deployed for the first time, by pairing them with other families who have been through this before.
"We want to help bring them out; we want to help bring them out together, foster that community and make sure they know they're not alone," Sanders said.
It's especially difficult for military families right now as news comes in of more casualties overseas.
The Defense Department Wednesday addressed that harsh reality.
"Much was made of the volume of missiles Iran was able to shoot in the first few days, and sadly, as we projected, a few got through and killed six of our best who will hopefully arrive home soon. We will avenge them, no doubt," Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said.
Sanders says it can also be frustrating for service families to hear other Americans discuss the conflict overseas, as she tries to educate others on what their loved ones are experiencing.
"I try to look at those as teachable moments, when someone says, 'well, that's what they signed up for.' They didn't sign up to go drop bombs; they didn't sign up to do that. They signed up to protect our country, and that's unfortunately, that's something that comes with it," Sanders said.
