Coming off arguably their worst game of the season Sunday, there was a lot of pressure on the Bears to do something.
There were a lot of boos coming from fans as they managed only three points against the New England Patriots Sunday.
It looks like at least for now the Bears offensive coordinator, Shane Waldron, is going to take the blame.
The Bears made the rare move of firing Waldron just nine games into his first season.
The Bears offense ranks 30th in the league this season. They have managed just 278 yards a game on average.
They've lost three in a row, and were hold without a touchdown in back to back games.
The Bears have not changed offensive coordinators mid-season since 1970.
And there's a lot of concern about developing the Bears' new quarterback, No. 1 draft choice Caleb Williams.
The injuries to the offensive line haven't helped; Williams has been running for his life.
He was sacked 18 times in the last three games, and is coming off his worst performance since the season opener against Tennessee.
There was lots of talk on sports radio Tuesday morning about it. Some believe this is only the start of the changes the Bears need to make.
"When you changed out and went to a new quarterback, you should have changed out everything. Instead, what's going to end up happening is he's going to get fired," ESPN 1000 radio host David Kaplan said. "He'll be gone, and now you're going to ask your rookie quarterback - who turns 23 on Monday - to learn another system. So, he'll have his college system, then the Bears system, then a new Bears system all in the span of like two years. That is not how you develop a rookie quarterback, a guy who's the future of your franchise."
Waldron came to the Bears this year after two seasons as offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks.
The Bears have promoted passing game coordinator Thomas Brown to the job of offensive coordinator for the rest of the season.
Brown is in his first season with the Bears.
He spent time as the OC for a bad Carolina team last year.
But, he's also won a Super Bowl with the Rams as assistant head coach.
Head coach, Matt Eberflus, was expected to address these changes Tuesday afternoon.
The Bears face the Green Bay Packers Sunday.
