He's also an ardent Chicago Bears fan, and he has a new anthem for this season's Monsters of the Midway!
One of the city's most celebrated DJs told ABC7 about the theme song he created, that Farley hopes will echo all the way to the Super Bowl.
Farley grew up on the South Side, emerging as a vibrant presence in the music scene in clubs, on the airways and in the recording industry.
He hopes his Bears chant will be the theme of champions.
Farley welcomed ABC7 to his "mobile studio," fit for the king of funk sound.
"Being a lifelong Bear fan, and them playing with my emotions, it's one of those things. Man, we're back!" Farley said. "This one... is for the fans, this song here is the stadium rock where everybody stands up... So I've created something that all our fans can. We can be on one accord together and cheer for our team."

This season's Bears team seems like something that people have really been waiting for, a kind of redemption.
"It's going to take a lot to live up to the charisma of the '85," Farley said. "Almost all of them were at the top of their game, and it was it was a team effort, just like it is now. I'm 63, so of course that was the beginning of House Music, '85, '86, ... seeing Walter Payton and the Bears playing the game. Now, I gotta do something to commemorate this team."
Farley spoke about his hope and dream for this for his new song.
"This song is timeless, because as long as you like football and as long as you like the Bears, love the Bears... We are the Bears," Farley said. "The fans will have their hands in the air and we will be screaming, we are the bears all the way, all the way."
A music video is in the works with the anthem, and it will soon be available on a website.
Part of the proceeds will go to charities.
