"Oh Lord, the gas is so high and I heard it and I just jumped up and I got ready and I left and it's gonna make a great difference because the gas is unaffordable," driver Melinda Gholston said.
People began lining up at the station located at Kostner and Belmont at around 6 a.m. The promotion started at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. or when the fuel runs out.
The effort is meant to MARK the 10th anniversary of T-Mobile Tuesdays, a weekly program that offers the wireless carrier's customers discounts on gas and other perks at Shell Station.
Tuesday, anyone can take advantage of the $1.99 a gallon deal on any grade fuel and gas up.
"We wanna get back. We want to support the community, obviously highlight what our T-Mobile Tuesdays perks program is all about and Shell," T-Mobile spokesperson Katie Frey said. "We know gas is a light item on a lot of people's budget these days so we're just trying to help out for even if it's just one day."
The company said drivers can fill up any vehicle except a boat, semi, RV or vocational truck. There's no gas can fill-ups either.

Gas prices have been on the rise since the Trump Administration attacked Iran and they retaliated by blocking the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Triple-A, in Chicago, the average price of regular unleaded gas is $5.02 a gallon.
That's up from $3.81 around the same time last year.
Jimmy Olivera is just grateful for the relief.
"It's worth the wait," Olivera said.
