Man killed, 5 others injured in East Garfield Park crash, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 22-year-old is dead after police said someone ignored a traffic signal and crashed into a car, Chicago police said.



The crash happened at about 3:50 a.m. in the 3800-block of West Lake Street, according to police.

A 20-year-old was driving eastbound in a blue Ford sedan with three passengers. Police said he allegedly disregarded a traffic signal and crashed into a red Chevy sedan that was heading southbound.

One of the passengers of the blue sedan died at the hospital from his injuries. Police said he was a 22-year-old man.



The three other 20-year-old men in the blue car were taken to area hospitals. The extent of their injuries was not released.

The woman,37, driving the Chevy and her 35-year-old passenger refused medical services.

Chicago police said citations are pending.
