Woman killed in I-57 hit-and-run crash, ISP says; NB lanes reopened at 111th

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A woman was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash on I-57 on the South Side Monday morning, Illinois State Police said.

Police said the crash occurred at about 3:48 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-57 at 111th Street.



Police said there was a disabled SUV in the right shoulder when a female passenger in that vehicle got out.

The passenger was then struck by another car, which police said fled the scene.



The woman was then transported to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

All northbound lanes of I-57 were shut down and traffic is being diverted off at 119th Street before reopening shortly before 8 a.m.
