1 in custody in deadly Norwood Park stabbing, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A suspect was taken into custody in a deadly stabbing in the Norwood Park neighborhood Monday night, Chicago police said.

The stabbing took place at about 11:15 p.m. in the 6000-block of North Harlem Avenue.



Police said a 24-year-old man got into a verbal and physical altercation with a known male suspect, who took out a knife and attacked the 24-year-old man.

The victim was stabbed several and taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital where he died, police said. He has been identified to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office as Giovanni Martinez.



Charges are pending, police said.
