Woman killed in Humboldt Park shooting, another woman in custody, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A woman was killed in a shooting Friday afternoon on the city's West Side, officials said.

Chopper 7 was over the scene near Chicago Avenue and Homan Avenue in Humboldt Park, where there was a large police investigation.



There was crime tape up around a pair of cars, and police officers appeared to be questioning multiple people.



CFD officials said a person injured in a shooting and was taken from the scene around 3:30 p.m. to a hospital, in serious to critical condition.

Chicago police said a 27-year-old woman with a firearm fired shots at a 36-year-old woman during a physical fight.

The older woman was shot multiple times in the chest and was taken to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, CPD said. Her name has not been released.

The woman with the firearm was taken into custody, and a firearm was recovered, police said.

No further information was available as Chicago police continue to investigate.
