Burglars ransack 5 businesses across 4 Chicago neighborhoods within 3 hours, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Police issued a warning about business burglaries on Chicago's South and Southwest sides.

Five break-ins happened within a span of less than three hours, starting just after 3:30 a.m. Thursday.



The burglars ransacked businesses in the West Lawn, Archer Heights, Gage Park, and Bridgeport neighborhoods, taking cash and an ATM machine.

Police said in each incident, the suspects broke a front glass door to get inside.



The burglaries happened at the following times and locations:
  • 4300-block of West Marquette Road on April 9 at 3:34 a.m.

  • 4300-block of West 47th Street on April 9 at 5:40 a.m.

  • 2600-block of West 59th Street on April 9 at 4:54 a.m.

  • 4300-block of West 47th Street on April 9 at 5:42 a.m.

  • 3700-block of South Union Avenue on April 9 at 6:04 a.m.


The suspects are described as four males wearing dark clothing, a black sweater, white gym shoes, a black ski mask, and black gloves. They were last seen driving as silver SUV and a black Kia.

Further information was not immediately available.
