A 14-year-old dachshund named Bam Bam was stolen from his blind guardian in Logan Square, according to PETA.
Bam Bam was reportedly in his backyard near Monticello and Fullerton when two men took him on June 5th.
PETA said it is offering a $5,000 reward for any information leading to the safe return of Bam Bam.
Community members raised $1,000 for the reward, making the total of $6,000.
"Angel Santiago, heard two unknown men enter the yard through his gate," a PETA spokesperson said. "Santiago tried to intervene and grabbed one of the suspects-who he believes was a teenager wearing long sleeves-but they got away with his beloved dog."
PETA said the man has since walked up to seven miles a day handing out flyers in hopes to find Bam Bam.
The 14-year-old dog is microchipped, however, he was not wearing his collar when he was taken.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Chicago police.
