Among the performers is Andrew Austin, a Chicago native from the Ravenswood/Lincoln Square neighborhood, who grew up dreaming of skating for Disney after watching the film Ice Princess. Austin, a national competitor, began figure skating at age 6 and joined Feld Entertainment in 2022. Since then, he has toured internationally, performing across Canada and Mexico.
Austin appeared Tuesday morning on ABC7 Eyewitness News to talk about the experience of performing for hometown audiences and what fans can expect from the new production.
"It's always special coming back to Chicago," Austin said. "The crowds here are incredible, and sharing Disney stories on the ice, especially in the city where I learned to skate, makes it even more meaningful."
The latest Disney On Ice show invites audiences on a journey led by Mickey and Minnie Mouse using the Magical MousePad, transporting families into scenes from Frozen, Encanto, Zootopia, Toy Story and more.
