CHICAGO (WLS) -- With the new year underway, it is time to make good on your resolutions. If you want to get in shape, you now have the chance to work out for free at Chicago gyms for an entire week. The Chicago Park District is offering free fitness classes at its 72 gyms. Colleen Lammel-Harmon, wellness manager with the CPD, joined us live from the gym at Ping Tom Memorial Park during our news Saturday morning to tell us how you can sign up.
Besides state-of-the-art workout equipment, the park district's 72 fitness centers feature classes for aquatic aerobics, cycling, Pilates, yoga, kickboxing, strength training, and more. Fitness classes vary per location. Registration is required, and all activities are first come, first served, based on availability.
Membership rates to the Chicago Park District's fitness centers range from $30 - $60 for three months. Accessible equipment for people with disabilities is available at 40 fitness centers.
For a list of fitness centers and for more information, call 312.742.PLAY or visit the Chicago Park District. You can also register at the CPD website.
