Child reunited with family after SUV stolen on South Side

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A one-year-old boy is reunited with his family after a car theft on Chicago's South Side.

Chicago police said a 36-year-old man was next to his vehicle in the 9100-block of South Urban Avenue at about 2:12 a.m. when a suspect entered and fled the scene, with a one-year-old boy inside.



The vehicle was later located in the 6200-block of South Eberhart Avenue with the boy inside. police said.

"He was in the back seat and I was like running down the street trying to flag him down and let him know my baby is in the car seat, but I guess at that point it was too late, I just called the sheriff," Jelani Eady, the boy's father said. "Materialistic stuff I can get back, but I can't get back my baby."



The boy was transported to the hospital for observation. Area detectives are investigating.
