CPD warns of child luring incident on border of West Humboldt Park

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 12-year-old girl said a man motioned for her to come to his vehicle early Tuesday morning along the border of the city's West Humboldt Park neighborhood, Chicago police said.

The girl was in the 4800-block of West Potomac Avenue about 5:50 a.m., when she saw an unknown man in a vehicle, police said.



The man made a hand gesture at the girl, motioning her to his vehicle, police said.

The girl went home, and the man drove east on Potomac and south through the north alley of Cicero Avenue, police said.



The girl alerted school officials of the incident, when she arrived.

CPD called it an attempted kidnapping/child luring incident.

The suspect is described as a 30- to 40-year-old man with a shaved head, police said.

The vehicle is described as a black minivan with black mag wheels.
