CPD releases images of vehicle wanted in hit-and-run death of teen girl on scooter in South Shore

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police released images Thursday night of a vehicle wanted in death of 15-year-old girl who was killed in a hit-and-run crash while riding a scooter last month. A 13-year-old girl was injured.

The crash happened on March 21 at about 8:34 p.m. in the 2800-block of E. 77th Street in the South Shore neighborhood, police said.



Police said the 15-year-old was on a scooter when she was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.

She was later found lying on the street. She was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital where she died.



She was later identified as Violet D. Harris by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Chicago police said a 13-year-old girl was also hurt in the crash and was taken to a hospital in good condition.

Police have now released images of the vehicle wanted in connection to the crash.

The vehicle is a dark-colored Ford Fusion.



No further information about the vehicle was available.



Chicago police continue to investigate.
