CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago nonprofit is combining food and philanthropy this Breast Cancer Awareness Month to tackle racial disparities in health care.

Equal Hope, an organization focused on reducing racial gaps in breast cancer outcomes, has launched its annual Pink Plate Tour, partnering with local restaurants to raise funds and awareness throughout October.

Among the participants is Bronzeville Soul, co-owned by Angelia Price and Mario Coleman, who say the cause hits close to home. "We wanted to use our platform to serve more than food, to serve hope," they said.

Diners can support the effort by visiting participating restaurants, where a portion of proceeds from select menu items will benefit Equal Hope's outreach and screening programs.

Founded in Chicago, Equal Hope provides breast and cervical cancer education, free screenings, and support services for women, particularly in underserved communities.
