2 shot, critically wounded in East Chatham, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man and woman were critically wounded in a shooting in the East Chatham neighborhood Monday night, Chicago police said.

The shooting took place at about 10:57 p.m. in the 7900-block of South Maryland Avenue.



Police said a 27-year-old woman and a man were both found unresponsive.

The woman was wounded multiple times and transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she was in critical condition, police said.



The man was wounded in the arm and transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

Area Two detectives are investigating.
