CHICAGO (WLS) -- An apparent drive-by shooting in the Washington Park neighborhood left one person dead and three others wounded Thursday night, Chicago police said.

The shooting took place at about 9:01 p.m. in the 5100-block of South Calumet Avenue.

Police said a black vehicle pulled alongside a large group and someone inside began shooting.

A 44-year-old man was shot in the chest and transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

Three other men, ages 34, 35 and 54, were transported to hospitals, where they were listed in good condition.

The vehicle then fled east on 51st Street, police said. Area One detectives are investigating.
