5-year-old boy shot, critically injured, man also wounded in Little Italy: Chicago police

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 5-year-old boy was critically injured in a shooting that also wounded a man early Saturday morning in Chicago's Little Italy neighborhood, Chicago police said.

CPD said a black SUV pulled up near a large group in the 1000-block of West 14th Street about 12:35 a.m., and someone inside the car began shooting.



The car drove south on Morgan Street after the shooting, police said.

A 5-year-old boy was shot in the abdomen and was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.



A 39-year-old man was shot in the buttocks and was also taken to Stroger in good condition.

A scooter was seen lying on the ground, blocked off by crime scene tape in video of the scene.

Area Three Detectives are investigating.
