Man killed, woman injured in Lawndale shooting, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man was killed and a woman was injured in a shooting Friday on the city's West Side.

The shooting happened around 12:38 p.m. in the 3400 block West 16th Street in Lawndale, Chicago police said.



A 27-year-old man was standing at the location when two unknown vehicles pulled up and multiple offenders with guns fired shots at him, police said.

The victim was shot multiple times and was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His name has not yet been released.



A woman who was standing nearby was shot twice in the back, police said. She was taken to a hospital in fair condition.

No further information about the shooting was available as Chicago police continue to investigate.
