The shooting happened around 4:10 p.m. near Cicero Avenue and Lake Street in Austin, Chicago police said.
A 27-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were on a sidewalk when an unknown grey vehicle pulled up, and someone exited and fired shots at the victims, police said.
The man was shot multiple times and was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said. His identity was not immediately known.
The woman was also shot and was taken to a hospital in good condition.
No further information about the shooting was immediately available as Chicago police continue to investigate.
