Man dies after shooting on Near West Side, Chicago officials say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man died after being shoot Thursday afternoon on the city's Near West Side.

The shooting happened around 2:40 p.m. in the 500 block of South Claremont Avenue, Chicago police said.



Investigators say the victim was getting out of a vehicle when another car drove up and multiple people inside opened fire. The man was rushed to a hospital.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office later said a man, 41-year-old Orlando Tobias, later died in connection the incident.



Dozens of evidence markers could be scene at the crime scene as police investigated.



No further information was available and no arrests have been made.
