Man shot, killed after being approached by group in South Shore, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man was shot to death on Tuesday afternoon in the South Shore neighborhood, Chicago police said.



The shooting happened at about 1:07 p.m. in the 2500-block of East 79th Street, police said.

A 44-year-old man was near the sidewalk and a restaurant, when he was approached by three suspects, police said.

At least one of the suspects pulled out a gun and started shooting.

The 44-year-old was shot multiple times. He was taken to University of Chicago Hospital, where he died.



Several bullets went through the restaurant window.

Nobody is in custody.

CPD detectives are investigating.
