The shooting happened on Saturday at about 11:11 pm. In the 11200-block of South Corliss Avenue, Chicago police said.

Treavor Taylor, 26, was taken into custody after police said he shot an on-duty sergeant who was in his patrol car.

Chicago police said that before shooting the officer, Taylor allegedly shot a 63-year-old woman in the 1300 block of S. Indiana Avenue.

Taylor now faces eight felony charges for attempted murder of a peace officer and the woman.

The sergeant self-transported to the hospital, and police said they were expected to be OK.
