2 officers hurt, 1 seriously in South Loop crash, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Two police officers were hurt in crash in the South Loop on Saturday night, Chicago police said.



The crash happened at about 9:41 p.m. in the 2200 Block of S. State Street, police said.

Two CPD officers were heading southbound on State Street when police said they were struck by a black sedan that was trying to turn westbound onto Cermak.

Police said the driver and passenger of the sedan refused emergency medical services at the scene.



One CPD officer was taken to an area hospital with a hand injury; and is expected to be OK.

The second CPD officer was taken to an area hospital with a collar and back injury. At last check their condition was serious.

Chicago police issued a citation to the driver of the black car.
