Relatives spoke with ABC7 Chicago and identified the two people killed in the crash as Kamal Ashrafi and Naima Ashrafi, who have been married since 2017.

The Ashrafi family shared the following statement:
"Our family is devastated by the loss of Kamal and Naima. They loved each other and their family more than anything and we want them to be remembered as the kind, jolly, caring people that they were. Kamal was a sports fanatic and Naima loved making candles and other crafts that she enjoyed sharing with the ones she loved. The void they leave behind is immeasurable, but we are grateful for the time that we had and will continue to celebrate their lives."

All lanes were closed until reopening at about 5:22 a.m. Wednesday.

The crash remains under investigation, ISP said.
