CHICAGO (WLS) -- An IDOT worker was struck while helping a driver on the Dan Ryan express lanes on Sunday morning, Illinois State Police said.

The crash happened at about 1:56 a.m. on I-94 southbound express lanes near 37th Street, ISP said.

Police said an IDOT worker was helping a stranded driver on the express lanes. ISP said the worker was standing outside an IDOT Emergency Traffic Patrol truck, which had its emergency lights activated.

A KIA sedan lost control and crashed into the IDOT truck, pushing toward the stranded driver's car.

The IDOT worker and KIA driver were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, ISP said.

The express lanes were shutdown during the investigation but reopened at about 6:30 a.m.

No other information was available.
