Chicago woman who started fire on neighbor's porch sentenced to prison in hate crime case | Video

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago woman who started a fire at her neighbor's home, has now been sentenced to nearly three years in prison, on a federal hate crime charge.

Ana Hernandez, 70, admitted that she threw a Molotov cocktail onto her neighbor's back porch in March of last year.



The wooden porch caught fire, but no one was hurt.

The victims who lived in the home were Venezuelan.



Hernandez had said she was trying to convince them to leave.

Hernandez placed a handwritten note on the car of the victims' landlord, who owned and lived in the building, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

Among other things, the note said, "We do not want you in the neighborhood. Go back to your country. You can go the easy way or the hard way," the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
