CHICAGO (WLS) -- It's the end of an era for Chicago's once-powerful Johnson Publishing.
The company is getting out of the publishing business after selling Ebony and Jet magazines to a private equity firm in Texas.

Ebony has been around 71 years. Jet recently became digital-only.
Johnson Publishing still owns Fashion Fair cosmetics and its historic photo archive, which remains up for sale.
