PHOENIX (WLS) -- A couple trying to save a puppy from a storm drain needed to be rescued themselves.
According to Arizona officials, a man and woman heard a puppy crying and followed the sound into a storm drain system.

The pair crawled for several miles and became stuck. Bicyclists heard their screams for help and alerted fire crews.
Firefighters spent about an hour getting the couple out.

The pair said they never found the puppy they heard.
