A person was struck at about 8 a.m. on Buffalo Grove Road and Larraway Drive, police said.
The pedestrian was an 87-year-old man of Buffalo Grove. The man was taken to the hospital where he died.
Petranka Stamatova, 60, was driving the grey Toyota that struck the man. She was taken to the hospital for precautionary measures.
Chopper 7 was over the scene at 9:30 a.m. at Buffalo Grove Rd. between Deerfield Pkwy and Thompson Blvd.
Video shows a heavy police presence surrounding a car with a broken windshield.
All roads reopened by noon.
