CHICAGO (WLS) -- A jury has awarded a former CTA employee $425,000 in damages.

Kevin McCormick sued after he claimed he has been discriminated against when he was fired after refusing to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

He claimed he did so due to his sincerely held religious beliefs and that he was denied a religious exemption.

The jury agreed with that, and on Friday awarded McCormick compensatory damages in the amount of $425,000.

ABC7 reached out the CTA for a response but have not heard back yet.
