The ABC7 Chicago I-Team is reviewing federal data, which show that gas prices are on the decline.
According to data from the U.S Energy Information Administration, the average price of gas in the United States is $2.90 per gallon. But across the Midwest, that number is slightly lower: $2.69 per gallon.

In the Midwest, gas prices are the lowest they've been in almost four years. But keep in mind that prices are still about 8 percent higher than they were five years ago.
In Chicago, prices are a little higher than the national average, with the average price at about $3.08 per gallon. Gas prices haven't been this low in the city in almost two years. And compared to a year ago, gas prices are about 6.6 percent cheaper.
