ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Nearly 71 years after Walt Disney opened Disneyland Resort in Southern California, the Happiest Place on Earth welcomed its 1 billionth guest on Friday!
Andres Robles, 8, and his parents, Alejandra and Jose Robles, are from Arizona. They arrived on Thursday to celebrate Andres' birthday and were surprised to be selected as the honorary 1 billionth guest.
The family was escorted to the Main Street Train Station, where Mickey Mouse joined them to unveil an updated Disneyland population sign, now displaying "Population 1,000,000,000."
The Robles family got a VIP tour guide for the day, including a tour of Walt Disney's private apartment, the newly opened Soarin' Across America attraction and other special experiences.
The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of Disney Parks and this ABC station.
