Doctor shares tips to improve mental health this holiday season

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The holidays are a joyous time, but they can also bring emotional challenges.

Many people are dealing with loss, depression or stress.



Public health expert and Black health storyteller Dr. Michael Forde joined ABC7 Chicago Wednesday with some tips to help navigate the holidays and the start of a new year.

Those include maintaining consistency, setting boundaries and staying connected.

Forde spoke on some of the common mental health challenges people face over the holidays and why they show up this time of year.
