Driver rescued after crashing into icy creek in west suburbs, officials say

ELGIN, Ill. (WLS) -- A driver was rescued after crashing into an icy creek on Thursday, Pingree Grove and Countryside Fire Protection District said.



The crash happened at about 9:09 a.m. in the 9600-block of Kendall Road in Elgin, officials said.

Chopper 7 was over the scene where the car was seen upside down into a creek and partially submerged in the water.

A driver was rescued after crashing into an icy creek on Thursday, Pingree Grove and Countryside Fire Protection District said.



Officials confirmed one person was trapped in the car.



Firefighters were able to rescue the person within 10 minutes. The patient was taken to an area hospital with signs of hypothermia and minor injuries.

Officials said that ice on the driveway likely contributed to the crash

The Kane County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash.
