The film, based on the best-selling novel of the same name, is set years after a devastating flu outbreak wipes out much of the world's population. The cast includes Josh Brolin, Jacob Elordi, Margaret Qualley, Benedict Wong and Guy Pearce.
Scott said one of the aspects of the project he is most proud of is the ensemble he assembled.
"I think I'm very proud of the cast. So I I wanna put the team together to see how it works," Scott said.
Asked about starring in a Ridley Scott film, Elordi praised the experience and reflected on his mother's reaction.
"She is a big fan of mine. She's really happy. Yeah. She's really proud of me. It's nice," Elordi said.
When asked what he was most proud of regarding the film, Elordi replied: "I think just the fact that I worked with Ridley Scott. That's really special to me."
Qualley described the production as a unique experience.
"I've never been a part of a movie like this. So it's a it was an interesting experience. And, yeah. I'm happy to be here," she said.
Brolin spoke about what he values most when working with acclaimed directors.
"It's not a great answer, but, like, somebody like Ridley or the Cohens or Oliver Stone or Gus Van Sant is the danger and the experimentation in what you do," Brolin said.
During interviews on the premiere carpet, cast and crew were asked which member of the ensemble would be most likely to survive an apocalypse.
"Now I give myself a run for the money. Josh Brolin," Wong said, before adding, "You wanna stick close to Josh Brolin."
Author and executive producer Peter Heller agreed, responding, "Oh, Josh Brolin for sure."
Pearce also named Brolin, while Qualley jokingly dismissed her own chances.
"Everything about me," Qualley said when asked why she did not think she would survive.
Brolin said he was not surprised by his co-stars' answers.
"Who would you rely on if you if this were real in dystopian world and it'd be Josh? Because Josh is a Neanderthal, and he looks like he could protect you with his meaty hands. Yeah. Whatever," Brolin said.
The film opens exclusively in theaters, IMAX, and premium larger formats August 28.
