Chicago's El Grito festival to return after hiatus due to fears of immigration enforcement

CHICAGO (WLS) -- One of Chicago's largest celebrations of Mexican culture is making a return.

Organizers announced El Grito will be back in Grant Park on the weekend of Sept. 12.

Last year the event was moved and downsized amid fears of immigration enforcement.

"In 2025, we made the difficult decision to pause out of respect for the safety and wellbeing of our community. It wasn't easy, but it was the right call," organizers said in a statement. "In 2026, we return - united."

The full entertainment lineup is expected to be announced soon.

Tickets start at $10. To learn more, visit elgritochicago.com
