Bomb threat under investigation at Evanston hospital after suspicious package found: police

EVANSTON, Ill. (WLS) -- Evanston police are investigating a bomb threat at Endeavor Health Evanston Hospital Tuesday, police said.

Officers responded just after 5 p.m. to the reported bomb threat at 2650 Ridge Ave.



Police found a suspicious package with wires sticking out of it outside the building, officials said.

Evanston fire crews are deploying a drone, and the Cook County Bomb Squad is responding.



The public is urged to avoid the area.

Surrounding areas were evacuated, police said.

Hospital officials said there is no immediate threat, and the facility remains open.

They said about 7:30 p.m. that the situation had been cleared.



Police did not immediately provide an additional update.
