Ex-CFD deputy commissioner charged with DUI appears in court

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A former deputy fire commissioner accused of driving under the influence of alcohol in a Lake Shore Drive crash appeared in court Friday morning.

John McNicholas had his case held over until Sept. 21.

He was cited for failure to reduce speed before he crashed into a city-owned vehicle along Lake Shore Drive earlier this year. He also faces DUI charges in the case.

McNicholas resigned after the crash.
