Fire investigated at Tower Building in Elgin

ELGIN, Ill. (WLS) -- There was a fire Sunday night in Elgin's downtown Tower Building, and according to one report, the fire appears to be suspicious.

The fire started in an elevator car in the building lobby. It was quickly put out, and no one was hurt.

The 15-story building was built in 1929. According to the Elgin Courier News, the building owners were told they had until the end of next month to fix code problems or the building would be condemned.
